Maynard Marks has an opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our team in Auckland. This role supports the delivery of structural engineering consultancy services across a range of building and construction projects. You will be responsible for analysis and design tasks, preparing technical documentation, and assisting with project delivery under the direction of senior engineers.
The role provides exposure to varied project types, regular site involvement, and ongoing technical development including working towards CPEng registration within a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Assisting with detailed structural analysis and design for a variety of structures.
Completing load assessments, including gravity, wind, and seismic actions.
Carrying out site investigations to establish the current condition of existing buildings.
Preparing design calculations, reports, and technical documentation for review by senior engineers.
Applying New Zealand building codes, standards, and regulations to design work.
Supporting delivery of small to medium projects in line with agreed scope, timeframes, and quality standards.
Participating in site visits to observe construction works and confirm alignment with design intent.
Identifying technical issues and contributing to the development of practical solutions.
What you will bring to the team
You will be a capable and motivated structural engineer who is continuing to gain experience and judgement, and who values feedback and learning from senior colleagues.
You will ideally have:
A minimum of 4 years experience in structural engineering within the building or construction sector.
A relevant engineering tertiary qualification (Washington Accord).
Membership of Engineering New Zealand.
Experience assisting with structural assessment, design and analysis on building projects.
Working knowledge of New Zealand building codes and standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and deliver quality outcomes.
A collaborative and professional approach to working with others.
