      Lead Product Manager Interview

      3 Dec 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uber in Nov 2024

      Interview

I was referred for a role in Bangalore, India. Although I have lived abroad in several different countries, this is the first time I have faced this kind of process. It was very random. The recruiter first scheduled a hiring manager discussion without checking availability and then ignored many requests via email for an initial recruiter call. There was no context provided for the process either. During the HM round, it was a 30-minute call. It was supposed to be an introductory call. But the HM asked me to do a product case. The case didn't align with the needs of the role (what the HM told me was his key skills' requirements) or my experience. The whole call was rushed because he added a 15-20-minute case in a 30-minute call. I never heard back from the recruiter, she said another recruiter would get in touch with me. But the other recruiter also didn't. Today I had a recruiter call for another role in Amsterdam ( where I currently live). However, the recruiter told me I could not apply for 6 months because I spoke to someone on the business side (the Indian hiring manager). It also seems that even though the previous recruiter didn't have the common courtesy to reply to me. She left negative feedback for me that the Amsterdam recruiter refused to talk to me. Lastly, the Amsterdam recruiter could have told me by email that I had a cool-off period instead of wasting my time. If you have an interview, you spend time and energy prepping. Overall, I would say the emotional intelligence of everyone I have interacted with extremely low, especially considering the hard job market.

      Lead Product Manager Interview

      4 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Uber (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2023

      Interview

Disorganized and unprofessional interview process. Did 1) phone screen with hiring manager 2) initial interview with team lead 3) take home jam session + presentation 4) 4 back to back panel interviews. Spent ~15 hours prepping for jam session based on outline hiring manager provided me on what to include, but during presentation seemed like interviewers were unaware of what was asked of me and they only cared about a very small part of my presentation, so most of my work was useless. Overall recruiters were pretty unresponsive and disorganized, and it was an unprofessional and disappointing experience. Got the offer after ~6-7 interviews and then they did an immigration assessment and concluded they didn't want to sponsor my TN visa. Then proceeded to ghost me for ~2 months and not re-assess my case or apologize for the unprofessionalism in the way the recruiting process unfolded. Complete disrespect and disregard for candidate experience. Glad I did not end up taking the offer - doesn't seem like a great place to work at all.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They did not ask about my immigration status prior to putting me through 6-7 rounds of interviews. Huge misstep on their part. Have tons of colleagues from Canada in the industry on the same visa type in a PM role at Uber, and for no valid reason they decided not to pursue with my visa after I got the offer
