      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at New Relic (Tel Aviv-Yafo) in Apr 2020

      Interview

The process is composed of 3 technical interviews and an HR interview. The process was pleasant and the interviewers were nice. The questions were fair, nothing tricky or something that is not used in day to day work, they explained in detail about the work and the team.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The asked for a system design and a drill down of a project.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at New Relic in Oct 2022

      Interview

      1. Found the opening on LinkedIn and applied. 2. Tech recruiter from the company contacted me we had an initial interview going over my CV, experience and my salary expectations. Recruiter said that my expectations were within both the senior and mid-senior ranges. 3. After over a week with no more movement from the company I received an email from the lead tech recruiter asking why I had not moved forward with the process. 4. I respond saying the the initial recruiter had not taken the agreed step to schedule a new interview. 5. The initial recruiter apologises for "having lost my data in an OS upgrade" and schedules the next interview. 6. I have the interview with an engineering manager, covering past experiences, tech stack and behavioural questions. 7. I pass that round and I receive a take-home tech challenge where I had to build a server capable of taking 2M+ TCP connections every 10 seconds. 8. I complete the challenge and submit it as agreed. 9. I receive a request for follow-up interview to cover the implementation details and do a systems design whiteboard exercise (2h total), which I do and seems to go well. 10 .Time passes (2 weeks) and I receive no feedback so I ask the recruiter and he gets back to me saying that I passed all the filters and now they need to do some internal talks to make a final decision . 11. Another week goes by and I receive a rejection email literally saying that I am not a good "cultural fit". No feedback or anything besides that. Very poor and inconsiderate taking into account the amount of time I had spent on the process. 12. I sent an email asking for better feedback in order to improve and grow, and have not received a response.

      Senior Backend Engineer Interview

      8 Feb 2022

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at New Relic

      Interview

Had a first meeting with HR very standard nothing to comment there. Then moved to very standard meeting with a hiring manager, basically asking for my background as an engineer. Wasn't too bad, the only thing was the repeated yawning. Then got assigned a really long take home test, which on top of that, you only have 7 days to complete. Delivered it after 6 days, and roughly 14 hours of coding. Made sure code was easy to read and tests were very concise, clear and descriptive. None of the testing parts were considered. They rejected my tests after saying that it was not able to shutdown (it does, i just didn't implemented a CTRL+C shutdown because you know i have a life and other interviews, still if you check the tests the app does shutdown), and that with large requests 10M numbers it didn't work, when the only requirement was to have high throughput and my code handled almost even double than what was asked (2M). Also said a file wasn't written but have not been able to replicate that error in my machine, so it's strange. Thought this would be useful for anyone out there.
