Applied Online Immediately received an email for a self-paced video interview. *If you are reading this - stop and read below* *Below is my suggestion to make it past the self-paced video interview to a phone interview - and future interviews with other companies* Spend the next several days creating a Word Document (I wrote 7-8 pages, 12 font) that uses the S.T.A.R.L. Method. S - Situation (Set the scene) T - Tasked (Describe the purpose) A - Actions (Explain what you did) R - Result (Share the outcome) L - Learned (What are some lessons learned) This will help you in all your future interviews as well. For this role specifically: Use STARL method to answer interview questions about: • Impact of a complex problem • Using limited time and resources effectively • Tight Deadline • Outside your responsibility • Significant Improvement • Invented Something • Decision with data • Decision without data • Most difficult task • Ambiguity • Fix Something • Unfinished task • Brought correction • Above and beyond *Think about it from the interviewers perspective, the interviewers listen to people talk out of their butt all day - however their ears will perk up with they hear, clear, concise smart answers to their questions.* Once you have all the answers to these types of questions - rehearse and practice talking about your answers like you are not reading them. Reading is totally fine during the self-paced video interview. When you take the self-paced video interview - you'll have time between answers to look at the next question, that will give you time to find the next STARL answer that fits the interview question. Suggestion: Do not ad-lib. Be clear and concise - you do not have to use the entire time allotted. *The Games Track Eye your movement - Keep your eye on the screen at all times - otherwise it will think you are cheating and the game will end sooner. *
