I attended the hortonworks interview through the skype. The interview is usually 4-5 rounds. All the interviews focus on the technical skills . The knowledge of UNIX is mandatory. If you have python as a scripting language then you are better placed of in clearing the interview. - Pre-screening round : In this round Hortonworks HR will speak to you on the details of the job . You will have to let her know the details of the current project etc. You will be sent a questionaire that will be technical in nature. It will have some simple programs and also some UNIX commands. You have to fill it and send it back to the HR. once you have sent the solved questionnaire then the 1st round of interview will be scheduled. - Round 1 : ( Technical Round ) - Details of the projects - UNIX commands - Shell scripting - Write a program to print the contents of the file in the reverse order ? - If you clear the first round then all the subsequent rounds will be scheduled. - Round 2 : ( Technical round ) - Details of the project . Finer details will be asked. - Shell scripting / Knowledge of UNIX commands. - Write a program to print the out put as " I love programming " . The input will be I:[1:1],love[1:2],programming[1:3] . Here the the first number denotes the line number and second number denotes the position in the line. - Rounf 3( Technical Round) - Shell scripting/ UNIX commands - Program to add 2 huge numbers ? - Round 4 : ( Director / Engg manager round ) - Details of the projects. - Intersets/Hobbies - Any knowledge of Hadoop will be advantage. - Willing to work with US counter part to have your time overlap with them will be appreciated
