I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Gusto (New York, NY) in Feb 2014
Interview
Quick and test
Zen payroll is not cool, the worst interview I have seen
1, I do care about the interview and design test, so I spent a lot of time to do it after work. I slept late, because I wanted to show my best
2, I does not make sense Zenpayroll needs to submit PSD or AI file.
3, Never gotten any feedback from them after I fished the test; even I emailed many times.
4, I believe that they could use my ideas for their new website.
Really really Sucks

Interview
I applied online and was contacted by the recruiting team 2 weeks after. I was really excited to chat to the team as I think the product is really smart and I loved the branding. Halfway through, I thought the conversation was going ok, but then the recruiter called me by the wrong name. I went to correct him (as they had mentioned to me addressing people by their preferred names was important to the company) and he very bluntly and quickly denied calling me that name. It was a particularly odd experience. I continued on with the call, but really didn't appreciate the blatant dismissal of me hearing the wrong name. He told me they would have an answer for me by tomorrow, but I ended up only hearing from them 4 days later through email that they wanted to go another direction.
I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Gusto
Interview
Long, but very balanced and diverse in terms of who you get to speak to on the team. It was broken up into multiple sections where different bodies of work are discussed/presented.

Great culture. Friendly people. The only thing I can complaint about the process was that the recruiter wasn't very responsive, making the experience a bit frustrating. But overall seems like a great company
