I had a lengthy in depth discussion about the position on the phone with a recruiter. Even though the recruiter stated they had started the 2nd round of interviews, he wanted to try to get me in the office for a face to face. He had the security staff screen me the following day, and having had a clearance before there were no issues. The recruiter was out of the office for a few days and I followed up the following week about the face to face HE wanted to arrange. The recruiter apparently got his facts straight (finally) and stated the hiring managers were about to make a decision based on the 2 prior candidates and wouldn't be interviewing any longer. Bottom line, the recruiter misled and didn't properly communicate with internal stakeholders before continuing on his path of finding viable candidates whose time he ended up wasting as well as misleading.
