Had initial screening call with internal recruiter. Call lasted approximately 35 minutes. Interview was a typical screening call to determine qualifications and describe opportunity. Recruiter asked me to review some YouTube videos about the company with product demos, etc. as "homework" to prepare for interviews with Five9 employees she would be arranging for me. Recruiter said she would follow up as a next step to begin interview process with relevant executives. Never heard back from recruiter after initial phone screen. Followed up with recruiter via e-mail five days later, and recruiter replied that they had a lot of resumes and were processing them, and to please stand by / she would be in touch / thanks for patience.
I was also approached during this same time by an outside recruiter who was retained by Five9 to recruit for this position. I replied to the recruiter that I had already had a phone screen with an internal recruiter for the job. Never got any kind of response or acknowledgement of my reply from the outside retained recruiter. Unprofessional.
It was clear and apparent that the external (retained) recruiter and the internal recruiter were not in synch with regard to candidates.
Never heard any follow-up from the internal recruiter after her explicit "and will keep you posted on next steps" statement from her e-mail (cut and pasted verbatim).
Non-existant follow-through and not being in sync between internal and external recruiters, tells me that there is a lack of professionalism in the recruiting process for this company. Thus, I did not pursue any follow-up, as I learned all I needed to know even in the early process.
