      Field Applications Scientist Interview

      1 Mar 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Oxford, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Corning (Oxford, England) in Jan 2024

      Interview

Had 3 rounds of interviews before the final one, where I met three different people from different levels. Every single time I have highlighted my constraints in terms of flexibility for travel and I was reassured that the team understands family/work balance and that the schedule was made around the person as long as everyone involved was willing to compromise. Then I arrive to the last meeting where I meet some of the team in person, and as we are going through the interview I am asked again about availability and flexibility and out of the sudden I am asked about rearranging my life around work, and how my expectations were clearly not meeting the role. I understand that these things don't match sometimes but by this point this had already been flagged by me multiple times and just at the last stage got important out of the sudden to the point of the interview being interrupted and stopped halfway through. Honestly this created a completely bad impression about the culture of the company, of the team and of the role itself. Wasting people's time for something that should be screened in the beginning.
