I recently had a hiring manager (HM) video interview with Cambridge Mobile Telematics, and it was a poor experience.
The interview started a few minutes late without acknowledgment, and overall there was a noticeable lack of engagement throughout the conversation. The interviewer often looked away from the camera and asked very limited follow-up questions, which made it difficult to have a meaningful exchange.
In the coding portion, after I completed the problem, there were still over 20 minutes remaining, but the interview was concluded early instead of using the time for deeper discussion, trade-offs, or exploring alternative approaches.
Additionally, although I applied for a Senior Software Engineer role, the interviewer mentioned during the conversation that they were looking for a Principal-level engineer, which created some confusion around role expectations.
Overall, the interview did not feel like a meaningful or thorough evaluation and raised concerns about the clarity and consistency of the hiring process, especially for a hiring manager round.
