Well, the HR who reached out was great and professional, but the next round with the Head of CS was an absolute delight. It was like interviewing someone whose mind was on a beach vacation. I had to repeat myself multiple times, and his responses were gems like, "Oh yes"—truly a masterclass in active listening.
I've interviewed 100s of candidates and have been interviewed 100s of times, but this experience was unparalleled. He won the award for the most inattentive and unprepared interviewer I've ever encountered.
The highlight reel includes:
No self-introduction from him, and he generously skipped giving me a chance to introduce myself properly.
Zero questions related to work or role fitment. Who needs those, right?
Asking the same questions I had already answered, multiple times. I get it, everyone misses things occasionally, but this was a groundbreaking level of disengagement.
By the end, I was almost grateful to know he'd reject me. No hard feelings—I'm relieved I won't have to report to someone with such an impeccable attention span.
If someone from the CXO reaches out to me and gives me an opportunity for his position, I would like to interview for his position :-).
