I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Ashdown People (Sydney) in Sept 2022
Interview
One of the most unprofessional interview experiences ever. Initial interview was meant to be with manager of the division I applied to but they were busy and it ended up being with the GM. If that interview had gone well then I would have met the whole company (~32 people) and if that had gone well then I would have had an offer. Instead the GM decided to play devils advocate and ask inappropriate questions unrelated to the role in a rapid fire, blunt and condescending tone. When he saw I was unimpressed with his questions he backpedalled and said he could ask these questions because like myself, he was Asian. Preceded to tell me half way through the interview that I would not get the role because he saw me as "too analytical" (*eyeroll*)

Question 1
Do you live with your parents? (seriously, the GM asked me this)

Interview
I had a brief phone interview followed by an 8-minute in-person meeting. After waiting for 15 minutes, the director assessed me with a critical gaze, posed just a single question, and abruptly stated that it was enough. He then instructed me to ask all the questions about the company, adopting a highly condescending tone. It was evident that he was one of those individuals who relished the little authority they possessed and sought to undermine others with their attitude. In contrast, the office staff appeared genuinely pleasant, with a predominantly youthful team, except for the director. The atmosphere was marked by an open alcohol bottle and loud music, exuding an unmistakable "trying too hard to be cool" vibe.
We thank you for taking the time to attend an interview with us and apologise that our appointment did not start at the scheduled time. As we prefer our candidates to do most of the talking during an interview, the process will occasionally come to a natural conclusion faster than anticipated. As always we are happy to provide more detailed interview feedback to individual candidates once we have made our hiring decision.
