      Principal Software Engineer Interview

      16 May 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chennai
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Appian (Chennai) in Apr 2026

      Interview

I attended several rounds of interview for this position. The HR is un professional and did not care to share the result after all the rounds. The interview process took 45 days as one round will happen per week and you would be called to office for final F2F interview. However, the HR ghosted after that. Comment to the recruiting team: Don't waste your time as well as the candidate's time.

      Application

I interviewed at Appian (Chapel Hill, NC)

      Interview

An initial phone call with recruiter was followed by a single call with an engineer to do basic verification that you were a human being with some skills. After that, there was a mostly standard afternoon of interviews one days. These were a mix of technical and behavioral interviews over the course of several hours. There was one interview with a person close to or in the C-suite which was a requirement at that point.

      Chennai
      No offer
      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Appian (Chennai) in Nov 2023

      Interview

The coordination/scheduling of the interviews was top notch. The initial conversation with the recruiter was great too. I had 3 rounds of technical interview and I felt I wasn't assessed thoroughly. Depending on the years of experience of the candidate I feel each successive round should be different. For me all were boilerplate rounds with 30 mins of coding specific to DSA, 10 minutes from the resume and 5 minutes to ask questions to the interviewer. In my 3rd round I was asked to talk about my previous design experience which is fine. Rather the assessment really should be from the actual issue or problem faced by the product that assesses Coding/Problem Solving, Design (LLD/HLD) and the language. This way a candidate can be assessed holistically.

DSA questions on LinkedList, HeapSort and a problem using Set.
