Got a phone screen through a friend, which I passed. Took approx 4 weeks from phone screen to schedule in person interview. Got mixed reviews such that they wanted me but couldn't figure out whether I was a perfect fit for the position they were interviewing me for. They told me a week later they wanted to offer me a Support Engineer position, which would be a career downgrade, but I was willing to hear them out if I could advance to the level that I had applied to.
3 weeks later they responded to set up an "informational" call about a completely different position, pasting in their standard pre-interview scheduling table - I called asking whether there was some mistake, as I had already interviewed and verbally been told an offer was pending. The recruiter stated that they cannot call me as outgoing calls do not work from their phones (what??). I have thus far spoken to around 8 different internal recruiters within Amazon, and they are switched every week. It seems like they have absolutely no organization between their recruiters and do not treat candidates with much value. If prospective employees are their customers, the recruiters are failing massively as Customer Obsession.
I have several other outstanding offers and given the interview experience I had along with the packed-in-like-sardines team office I saw I am unlikely to pursue this position.
