Amazon Station Operations Manager interview questions

Process was quick, i was contacted by interviewer and set up a call with another operations manager which went well. After that, 4 hours virtual interview was set up with 3 regional operations manager and 1 HR person. Interview went really well and it was all situational questions but i don't know what happened in the back end that i got an email after 2 days that i am not selected. After that, One of my friend from Amazon logistics told me that they are only interviewing outside candidates just as formality, they will be eventually hiring internal candidate because it cost them less.

The interview is very long. 4 hours to be exact. you have to interview with 4 different members of the company. They ask you allot metrics driven questions. Mostly about success stories about members within your organization.
