I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in May 2024
Interview
The Amazon Data Analyst interview process is structured and fast-paced, focusing equally on technical skills and alignment with Amazon’s Leadership Principles. It usually starts with a recruiter screening, followed by one or two technical phone interviews covering SQL, data analysis, and problem-solving. If successful, candidates are invited to a final loop with multiple back-to-back interviews that test technical ability, business acumen, and behavioral fit through real-world scenarios and leadership principle-based questions. The process is rigorous but fair, and strong preparation around SQL, data interpretation, and Amazon’s principles is essential to succeed.

Question 1
write a SQL query to identify duplicate records in a dataset and explain how I would handle them.
It was a fairly standard interview with typical principal-level questions. Prepare well by studying their website in advance, as many questions are based on it. If you face any issues, reviewing prior candidate experiences can provide useful insights and guidance.
Interview felt rushed, they didn't answer any of my questions and I didn't feel like they took me seriously as a candidate. Recruiter didn't do a pre screening with me either.
The process starts with an online assessment, followed by a phone screening interview, and then a three-round interview within a day. This is the final round of the interview.
The difficult part of the interview process is the final round. One must be prepared to answer questions about their experience and the job.
