I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Arlington, VA) in Jan 2025
Interview
The interview process was very streamlined. You start by doing an online application. Considering how tedious applying for jobs is, Amazon's process was a little different and therefore refreshing. You get a quick response afterward to take online assessments, which involves a personality test using office situations and 'what describes you more...' questions. Along with two technical coding challenges.
Afterward, they email you asking you to pick a date and time on a given week to schedule an interview. They will then choose which date/time works for them and send a link to use their Chime video chat for the interview.
The interview is an hour-long, half introductions and questions (leadership/personality), and the other half the coding challenge. And this challenge is fairly interactive. They want to know what you are thinking. So 'thinking out loud' is what I did and it worked for me. I don't think pseudocode is really allowed, you do get to pick your language after all, but they aren't too hung up about syntax. They didn't even run any tests here. Just spoke about time complexity and whatnot.
Lastly, you get to ask your own questions if you have time remaining.
I was given an offer less than 48 hours later. The overall process was two weeks and this was during the Christmas/New Year's time.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Name a time when you committed to something, but was unable to fulfill that commitment. How did you handle that situation and what would you do differently now?
The interview process was straightforward and friendly. It started with a recruiter screening, followed by a technical interview. The interviewer asked basic coding questions, object-oriented programming concepts, and a few behavioral questions based on Amazon Leadership Principles. The coding problems were not very difficult, and the interviewer was willing to provide hints when needed. Overall, the experience was positive and well organized.
i applied online around october, got the OA around march/april originally for summer but headcount was reached so i expressed interest in being considered for their fall internship. they reached out in late may and got my interview scheduled in june
