      Senior Human Resources Assistant Interview

      16 Jan 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chester, VA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Amazon (Chester, VA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

After being sent a few brief questions via email about the position I was approved to start the interview process. I was sent a link to do the interview via hirevue, which is a web based interview process. I was given 3 days to complete the interview that contained 9 questions. I have never interviewed this way so I used the 3 days to prepare knowing that they use behavioral questions and want STAR answers. Knowing this did not give me an advantage! You are given one practice question with 3 chances to answer so you can get the lighting, background and everything else looking good. Watching myself answer questions on video was completely intimidating and ruined my self esteem and confidence. I knew I was bombing it even though I had prepared. For future interviewees that are given interviews via hirevue know that you are given 3 chances to answer EVERY question. So if the 30 seconds given to prepare your answer is not enough time, answer it as best you can, your answer will be replayed for you and if you are happy with it you can submit it, if not, you have 2 more chances to try it again with NO time limit but beware if you use your 3rd attempt you do not get a chance to watch it, it is automatically submitted. I did not enjoy this experience but now that I have been through it and know what to expect I might be less nervous next time. As stated in other reviews the questions are behavioral and they expect STAR andwers. Situation or Task, Action and Result. I applied on a Wednesday and was responded to the same day. Did my interview on Saturday and was sent the thanks but no thanks email Monday morning. The recruitment manager was very nice and even responded to me when I asked for future interviewing tips. Best of luck to future candidates.

      Interview

Fairly simple. Two individual interviews with two people. They are a little misleading about shifts & schedules. Because the warehouses operate 24/7, the HR team is expected to also work 24/7. The shifts will be divided into days/hours so there is always someone able to help the associates.
