      Application

The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA)

      Interview

My overall experience was incredibly good. I got contacted via LinkedIn. The whole process took around 3 months. I had several phone interviews, first to talk generally about the role, my visa situation, etc., and then 2 technical phone interviews. The technical interviews were there to test my technical level, they were relevant to the role. Beside the fact that all my interviewers were nice, nothing special. After I passed the phone interviews, I got invited for on-site interviews. Amazon paid for my flight, hotel and meals. The interviewers were, again, very nice, professional, respectful. Half of the questions were 'behavioral' questions to test how I responded to specific challenges that I encountered in the past. The other half were technical questions/exercises. After I finished my interview day, I had the great feeling that Amazon knew exactly what I was capable of and my limits. And for me, I knew exactly what to expect with the role. No surprise on either side. I think that Amazon's interview process is extremely efficient and fair. I got an answer 2 days after that. Not having to wait forever for an answer is rare enough to be noted. Of all the interviews I have done (Apple, IBM, Google, and smaller companies), this was, by far, the best experience.

      Question 1

Half of the questions test your ability to respond to certain situations ("tell me about a situation where X happened and how you solved/reacted to the problem"). The other half are technical questions and exercises.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Amazon

      Interview

This was probably the worst experience of my professional life. The recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn to share the job description and requested a few details. After that, he would call me randomly throughout the day without scheduling the calls. Moving forward, they scheduled a "Meet the Team" call to help me understand the company's culture, but nobody showed up for the call. I was informed that the person they selected had meetings to attend, which felt odd. Later, I had my first interview scheduled with an engineer from the team at 10 PM (my local time) to align with their working hours. Unfortunately, the interviewer failed to show up, and after waiting for about 45 minutes, I decided to leave. I attempted to email the recruiter afterward but never heard back.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Boston, MA) in Mar 2026

      Interview

One thing I found challenging during the interview was the format of the behavioral question about exceeding expectations. I began answering using the STAR method to provide a structured and complete response, but I was frequently interrupted with follow-up questions before I could finish my thought. As a non-native English speaker, this was particularly difficult for me. When I was interrupted, I lost track of where I was in my story and struggled to refocus and pick up from where I had left off. It disrupted my train of thought and made it hard to deliver the full context and outcome of the situation I was describing. I would have felt more comfortable and confident if I had been given the space to complete my answer before follow-up questions were asked.

      Interview

I had a 1 hour phone screening. First half was behavioral interview on the LPs and the second part was technical interview where I had to live code and also answer questions on NLP topics.
