Pros
I’ve been at trivago for a little over 2 years now, and I can confidently say it's one of the best decisions I’ve made in my career. Here’s why:
1. Super Smart People from All Over the World: The diversity here is incredible. You’re surrounded by brilliant minds from every corner of the globe. It's a hotbed for creativity and learning, and I find myself growing every day -- you don't have an option but to ;)
2. Feeling at Home from Day 1: As someone who moved here from another country, this was a huge plus. From day one, I felt welcomed and at home. The environment is incredibly supportive, and everyone goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable.
3. Exciting Projects with Independence: The projects we work on are genuinely interesting and challenging. Plus, you’re given the independence to tackle them in your own way. It’s the perfect balance of support and freedom.
4. Fantastic Company Values: Fanatic Learning, Trust, and Unwavering Focus are my favourite values at trivago. They’re not just words on a wall; they’re lived every day.
5. Access to Leadership: It’s not every day you find a company where the CEO (shoutout to Johannes!) takes time to have coffee with you and discuss intriguing topics like dopamine fasting and how we can hack it to our benefit. The leadership here is approachable and genuinely invested in your growth.
Besides these points, the overall vibe at trivago is just fun and engaging. There’s a real sense of camaraderie, and the work-life balance is respected. If you’re looking for a place that’s challenging yet supportive, diverse, and full of opportunities to grow both personally and professionally, trivago is the place to be.
Cons
While the salary might be slightly on the lower side compared to some other companies, the immense learning opportunities, incredible work culture, and supportive environment more than make up for it.
