Pros

None really, I lost a lot of time and skills working there . If your a lowly motivated Nurse Or a poor nurse in general you'll be totally cool. Oh those on the narcotics program feel free to apply as well they seem to really like you since you won't find a job else where or that's what they will tell you.

Cons

Bad management, LPN's allowed to triage, assess and treat! No training or poor training and the nurse on nurse violence is out of this world, regional behaves as if it doesn't happen and if you report it you will be blacklisted and shown the door

Pros

Correctional nursing is a rewarding field. Pay is not too bad, accrual of PTO is good as well. Nurses on the unit are great to work with.

Cons

Patient care is non-existent. Denying timely care and medication to make money is sick. Company values look good in the handbook, however not applied in practice. Zero "culture of safety". Management on site are bullies, play favorites, outright unprofessional, overly aggressive, and arrogant. Upper management offsite are either clueless to how the sites are run or simply do not care. Reporting all of the above only results in retaliation and hostile targeting. Inadequate training, zero support from managers when more training requested. Turnover is outrageous, not just with nursing staff but Physicians as well- this speaks volumes!
