Pros

-Generous pay -Generous incentives

Cons

-Both generous pay and incentives are used as a form of bullying and manipulating staff and are taken away as management see fit. -Upper management are unprofessional, employing bullying tactics in all areas of management. Management routinely berate staff based on their appearance and actively encourage the indirect bullying of other staff. -All staff are kept on casual contracts and shifts are given out according to favoritism, not performance or professionalism. Requests for full-time contracts are denied. -Staff are regularly reprimanded publicly via group emails. -Staff are advised to wear designer shoes on the boutique floor but are not compensated for their purchase. -Staff are not treated compassionately when they are unwell or need to take leave, holidays often result in shifts being cut. -Staff are told that the needs of the business trump their personal needs openly. -It is common knowledge that giving in a notice of resignation will lead to being told not come in tomorrow.

Pros

Beautiful clothing, luxury boutique atmosphere, freedom to run your business how it works for you, within some general guidelines. They are very receptive to feedback, and I love the fact that upper management is so involved, without micromanaging. We send our daily recap emails not only to our regional manager, but to the president of the company, and she actually writes back with words of encouragement! The company is global, but still feels small and tight knit.

Cons

They are behind in terms of technology. Their POS system is in need of an overhaul, and processes like transferring merchandise between stores is too lengthy of an ordeal, but you learn to make it work to make business happen. The POS doubles as your computer, and this can be challenging when you are trying to finish a task.

Pros

It was truly the worst.

Cons

The manager in question exhibited classic signs of narcissistic personality disorder, including an inflated sense of self-importance, a need for admiration, and a lack of empathy for others. This behavior was evident in the way they would constantly criticize and belittle employees, making them feel inferior and unvalued. The manager would often make unrealistic demands, expecting employees to perform tasks perfectly without providing adequate support or resources. This created a toxic work environment where employees felt stressed, anxious, and undervalued. The manager’s micromanaging style was overwhelming, with a constant need to control every aspect of the employees’ work. The manager expected everything to be perfect, with no room for error or mistakes. This created a culture of fear, where employees were hesitant to take risks or try new things, fearing that they would be criticized or punished. The manager would often display false kindness, pretending to be supportive and caring when it was convenient for them. However, this kindness was short-lived, and the manager would quickly revert to their usual condescending and critical behavior. The manager’s overall attitude was terrible, with a constant air of superiority and disdain for others. This made it difficult for employees to trust the manager or feel comfortable approaching them with concerns or issues. Working at Wolford under the narcissistic manager was the worst experience. The manager’s behavior, including micromanaging, perfectionism, and false kindness, created a toxic work environment that was stressful, anxiety-provoking, and undervaluing. I would not recommend working at Wolford to anyone, especially under the current management. The manager’s behavior is unacceptable, and the company’s lack of action to address these issues is alarming. If you value your mental health and well-being, stay away from this company.
