Pros

Flexible working hours, some nice benefits

Cons

People become 'managers' overnight with little experience or guidance Quick turnover of staff due to the disrespect displayed to other employees, decisions made etc. Selling themselves as privacy-focused but they have trackers left, right and centre. Learning and development budget but not one thing I wanted to use it for was approved. High burnout rate Some of the more longstanding HR team members are more of a hindrance than a help: spreading rumours, complaining about employees, not approachable, discussing private employee matters on the office floor.

Pros

- Fun colleagues - Nice office - Lots of art around if that's your thing.

Cons

- Micromanagement and bureaucracy has skyrocketed the last year or so. Blind obedience to (and enthusiasm for the plans of) your manager has become more important than shipping quality to our users. - Career advancement is almost non-existent for developers. The only people promoted in the last ~3 years were juniors promoted to "less-junior" status and a few designers/support crew moving between departments. - Despite loud PR stating the opposite, WeTransfer is not actually all that privacy conscious. Just go to any page and count the number of javascript trackers, sometimes over 15 per page these days. Ironically, the person pushing the hardest for including these has written an entire book about the importance of privacy. That does not stop him to try and join adblocker groups to convince them that WT ads are more OK because they are "beautiful" of course, no matter how many trackers they contain.

Pros

- clever, skilled, passionate colleagues - lots to work on - established and profitable main product - complex technical challenges - depending on team you can have really good work/life balance. no on-call, flexible hours, WFH, etc. - pay is probably higher than amsterdam average

Cons

- no room for growth or promotion, we'd rather higher externally than promote internally. "flat structure" - which we do not have - is no excuse for not giving people raises or title bumps. - no transparency - values are used to excuse the bad things, not promote the good, change often - OKRs are meaningless but treated as the solution to all problems
