Pros

This company is expanding. No fixed working hours, sometimes it is negotiable but definitely unable to go off early or end earlier. It is a China company so, you can really see your Chinese improve. There are staff discounts for employees who has children.

Cons

Cannot choose which days to take off. And no KPI or evaluation to your performances. Mainly just based on the mood. Taking leave is so hard that, from time to time, even if you would want a family dinner, or something you are unable to do so, as the company does not have any annual leaves. Only forced leaves, or unpaid leaves. No lunch time. Can only eat in the centre, for 9 hours shifts, they will deduct you a 30minutes lunch break, whereas on Saturday or Sunday, lunch hours are granted as the admins will be buying food for you and you can only eat in the classroom. No go for choosy eaters, as they are unable to choose what they can eat, mainly depends on the admin's mood. Definitely need to finish your food within 30 minutes on the weekends as the next class is just back to back. In Marine Parade branch is okay, as we still have 2 days off days, but in other branches has only 1 day off. And the timing is certainly exceeding 44 working hours per week as spoken in the MOM. The contract given was 44 hours, indeed but when you started working, you will realised that the pressure of the management, would not allow you to come on dot and leave on dot. The amount of workload is also so much, causing you to OT, yet unpaid as the management expects you to finish them on time. Admins from all different branch would definitely need to OT , unpaid OTs. You will need to give notice 3 months and with the compensation of 2 months in order to leave the company, however, if you are not diligent enough, you may get fired, and they will dismiss you without notices. For manager roles, the company will not compensate for transportation or OT pays if you need to go to the main centre for meetings after working hours. For events, OT or time offs are not given. For example, if your working time ends at 6pm, and the company wants to have a f2f meeting at 7pm. From Bukit Timah branch, you may need to cab down to Marine Parade Branch. You will need to close the door for Bukit Timah branch first, and take a cab down to Marine Parade, during this period, if you didnt manage to eat your dinner, sometimes the company will provide free dinners, but if they don't you will need to wait till the meeting ends which is 9 to 10pm. Cabbing is all at your own cost, and not claimable. And you are required to be early for work the next day. For company events like teacher's day, CNY, or morning meetings, which you require to go before your working hours are not claimable or paid OTs.

Pros

Gain experience ☑️ Basic salary higher than same industry ☑️

Cons

❌ work life balance You have to work at least 44 hours per week. No time for the employees to do workout or accompany with their families ❌ Heavy workload You have to handle and check 100+ students' work every week each student has 3 exercises you need to mark. And your students might be in nursery, primary, or secondary. The work is totally overloaded. Finish your work at the company is absolutely impossible. As you need to finish your work at home, you have no time to have your own private life EVEN ON YOUR OFFDAY. Besides, you need to communicate with the parents and do others paperwork. ❌ No OT will be given If you cannot finish your work, yes, you need to bring home. ❌ No mobile is allowed in the company You need to put your phone in the locker when you are at work. The boss requests employees to do that because the boss thinks it is very efficient not to use a mobile phone at work. So the boss forced the employees to do the same. ❌ Need to reply to all the msg all the time in the group as long as there is. You need to reply a “Noted” msg immediately if there is any msg send in the group. If not, the boss will ask helper call or msg you within 5 mins. ❌ Yes, you need to flatten your boss ❌ Compulsory team building activities You need to attend all the activities they conduct and it is compulsory. You are not allowed to absent. You have to go the activities on the morning and rush back to own branches before the afternoon classes start. Transportation expenses cannot be reimbursed. ❌ Hard to taking leave Even you are sick they will ask you to work if you are not that serious. The company forcing employees to take unpaid leave if you really want to.
