Pros

VT picks up the majority of the benefits cost. Full remote work. Occasional work events. Handsome salary (you'll need it b/c you won't close anything).

Cons

Jesus where do I even start. This company is so woefully inept, if you have any sales experience whatsoever, turnaround and run the other way. If you're considering Sales at VT, ask them for reports reflecting how many AE's are hitting quota, report reflecting how often they've hit their revenue goal as an organization for the last few years, connect with a prior AE and ask them about their experience at VT, ask them how long it takes to close 1 deal (over 6 months btw, average value of 25K), etc. This was by far the worst mistake I've made in my sales career. They fired my VP of Sales 4 weeks after I onboarded and everything we discussed up front before I accepted the position quickly unraveled. The CEO is incredibly rude, talks over employees on all-hands calls, and clearly has no clue how to run a software company. This organization is on its 4th sales team in the US, and still using the same playbook....there's a word for that. The COO is constantly putting out fires and cannot address needs that would improve the organization. There is no HR representation as the last HR rep quit in the middle of changing benefit vendors and my dentist is still trying to collect payment from both providers. Make sure you review and request a copy of your commission agreement as I know other AE's that never received commissions that they're still due for. This is a cardinal sin in the SaaS world. The company has a decent teck stack, but prospecting is VERY manual and SalesForce is so inadequately developed, its easier to run your accounts off an Excel spreadsheet. They will assign you a "vertical" which is meaningless as its basically a free-for-all. All but 1 employee I was hired with in my onboarding group has either quit, or was fired and the only reason she's still there is because she's an account manager. They really only sell 1 product for a small, niche customer base (government contractors). They'll tell you other organization's can benefit from the solution as well, but you might as well be climbing Everest trying to sell it. The product is a nice to have, and terribly overpriced. It's so dumb that they don't even include a license in the annual software subscription. The other product is basically a Grammarly competitor. Also, they say their a SaaS company, but the product has to be installed on-prem because they're too cheap to get a SOC/ISO certification for cloud setup. I could go on for day's about how you need to avoid this place. They'll entice you with a handsome base salary, but the product is so impossible to sale, you'll be living off of it solely until you either quit, or get terminated. Seriously, talk to a prior AE that's worked here before you make the leap. You'll be thankful you did.

Pros

The product is strong and well needed in the industry. Good people who mean the best all around.

Cons

Quota is not aggressive numbers-wise but overall it is almost impossible to hit. Lead flow is terrible. If you come on as a closer here, expect to have to source most of your own business to even have a prayer of making any commission.
