Pros

Remote or hybrid work flexibility. Sales Leadership are good people and run a good sales team. Customer Success staff are great as well.

Cons

There is no positive culture established, and there's an extremely combative environment. They claim it is "passionate", but its just defensiveness and lack of open-mindedness from executives. Product development is far behind where it should be. Competitors are much stronger. Verbit's accuracy is also terrible and clients know it. There is little to no product differentiation in the industry, making it an extremely boring sale. Also, please know that this is NOT a SaaS product like they claim it to be. CEO acts as if he is the CEO of a mega-tech company and is extremely hands off. He lacks any true leadership capabilities. Employees only hear from him when he talks about "how great the company is doing", which is a total facade. Pay and benefits are well below market. Look elsewhere.

Pros

You get to work from home

Cons

The foreign-owned company is going around buying small captioning companies, firing long-time employees, and sending US based work overseas to lower their costs. Hours have been diminishing drastically. When the new executive held an informational call for captioners, she asked them to hang in and promised more hours would come. Someone asked if layoffs were planned. She said no. A month later, long term employees were laid off without notice or cause. Management is dishonest. Seems like the goal is to replace US based employees, either with foreign captioners or captioning bots.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of Verbit. We want to assure you that we value our captioners immensely. Over the past few years, we've invested in growing our teams and trained them for supreme delivery, exceptional quality and high-accuracy. That said, we recognize Verbit has been expanding rapidly and acquired new companies. Recent growth and the need to provide our customers with best-in-class service required organizational changes that unfortunately included headcount reduction. While companies grow and increase their revenues, they also need to ensure that the business is being managed as effectively and efficiently as possible. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Thank you for your time with us.

Pros

Is DOWNHILL a pro? If it is, then I'd say they are pros in it.

Cons

Nothing is going the way of transcriptionist at the moment. If you like to work for a company that has the lowest pay, worst job availability, too many unnecessary platforms, disregard of your welfare as employee, poor communicaton channels, boring work environment and irregular paydays, then Verbit is the place to be. This company was one of the best pre-covid and had one of the best community manager in Dana Kalishov. Since she quitted in 2020, it's been a steep downhill and, boy, they can't catch a break. It's an epitome of poor management decisions. And if you are hired, your account can be frozen at their own will without a warning and without merit. It doesn't matter your overall scores because integrity is not valued here as long as you can work for as low as $1.0 per hour. It's a mess from top to bottom. If you don't laugh you'll cry.

Thank you for leaving a review. While we realize that the amount of work might vary, we are doing our best to ensure that our transcriber community has a sufficient number of jobs. We’re also working hard to keep our community engaged and have dedicated community managers just for that. As part of Verbit, you have access to the community forum where you can raise issues or open discussions. Additionally, we have a Help Center available for you at all times. We’re working hard to make sure the quality of the community is high and, as we communicated in the forum, we perform periodic quality checks that might require freezing up certain accounts. Verbit and our transcriber community is growing. While this will result in more jobs, it also means that it’s harder to be in direct communication as previous community managers may have been. We acknowledge this and will continue to work to be as accessible as possible. Lastly, regarding your comment on pay, we advise that you consult the Help Center for information. We welcome any more feedback as we always look for ways to improve.
