Pros

- Access to tasty and quality Italian Chocolate and Desserts - Big on transparency and communication between teams - Ok pay...but not worth the stress

Cons

- Felt like I was doing 3 full time jobs. I understand the US division is new but I was spreading myself way too thin- tasks unrelated to my job would just get assigned on my plate at random. - Some of the management esp from overseas was pretty condescending and I got scolded over small mistakes or things I couldn't control by people who did not understand my job. I felt targeted and openly disdained by certain people and it was hard to work with. - Really terrible work-life balance. I don't mean anything crazy like 80 hour work weeks but just being expected to answer the phone at any time or have to come in on a weekend at the drop of a dime and it not being "officially required" or put in the job description, but getting passive aggressive emails if you ever missed a weekend email or couldn't come in. A manager early on told me they wanted me to "live and breathe Venchi while you work here" and that should have been a sign to run. - They slowly stamped out the hybrid work environment while I was there into full in-person which was annoying.

Pros

The people I happened to have worked with. I liked the team - they warm up very quickly and are kind. All managers are nice but they are stretched thin because of the structure of the company so its annoying being around them.

Cons

The company is structured so that they can exploit the sales assistant to the furthest. It is the responsibility of the sales assistant to do things that other people should be payed for or should be done with the help of people. You are expected to know everything without training because management is too busy to train you. Setting your boundaries in any way (your time, breaks, health) is a problem for them. Managers are overworked so they also treat you like sh!t. You don't even get a break on your off days. They will overwhelm your phone with requests at the morning and throughout the day with things that are unfinished. They demand professionalism from all their employees yet act irresponsibly towards their employees. Retail in general is exploitative but this is one of the worst ones. Better off somewhere else if you want an okay job that doesn't suck the soul from you. Small discount outside of free food.

Terrible Work Environment

Pros

You get 1 free item on your lunch break.

Cons

This company is horrible. It has a turn over rate of every 6 months. Every 6 months someone in management will either quit or be terminated. It is terribly mismanaged. HQ is to blame for the terrible management of the company. Everyone is overworked in the offices and in the retail stores. They expect 60+ hour work weeks, around the clock supervision of your team and constant constant control. The worse part about this job is the communication that comes from the top all the way to the bottom. There are 3 owners in charge of the company and honestly only 2 of them make major decisions but it’s absolutely confusing. Mark is the CFO and he’s constantly visiting stores, putting hands on associates and management, constantly berating you and always expecting the up-most without proper communication, or explanation. They will always change something on you at the last possible minute and then blame YOU for not being on top of everything. They offer no help to stores on the West Coast and they “plan” on expanding. I would not be shocked if this company got sued in 5 years on a massive corporation level for the harassment and abusive they induce on their staff both office level and retail on a daily basis. This company needs some serious restructuring before it plans to “expand”.
