20% positive business outlook
Pros
The salary is above minimum
Cons
Manager was a psycho that loved to harress me. Area manager kept her even after knowing what she did.
Pros
Great men's clothing Opportunities to build clientele
Cons
This place is completely understaffed and no one in upper management or corporate cares. Trying to get a promotion is like waiting for pigs to fly. You end up making so much money for the company and get nothing but 2% commission once a month and maybe some contest to win incentives once every 3-5 months. Turnover is INSANE, people quit and get fired on a regular basis, more than any other company. Very unappreciated of their staff, and they overwork you. Store Managers are not competent. Area Manager is racist, favors her friends and steals sells even though she doesn't make commission. Also they under pay, they say because you make commission that will make up for it but it doesn't. Two former sales associates even decided to work next door at another retail store because that company is 100 times better. There is no work life balance, be prepared to work all day, everyday. One week I worked 10 days straight. This company is based out of France so HR knows nothing about what is going on in the states in terms of sales associates and lower management.
Pros
Uniform allowance, decent bonus scheme for managers.
Cons
Everything else. Upper management is highly incompetent, they love to gossip about staff members and decide whose the next person to be fired in the company. They have absolutely zero respect for employees. Area managers expects people to worship him, if you don't do that, he'll find a way to eradicate you using bullying methods. Work life balance is 0. You are expected to work even during your holidays.
Pros
- The uniform Allowance. - The HR and Management are approachable. - The Area Manager was really helpful when I had issues with the team.
Cons
- The team is really impolite, won't welcome you or help you fitting in. - The team is messing around as soon as the managers are away. - No team spirit, people are stealing each other's clients for commissions. - Dangerous stockroom. - Unsocial hours. - No break except lunch. - You never have your lunch on time.
Pros
- Uniform budget every season
Cons
- Low commissions & team based - Low salary & inconsistent - Doesn’t seem like you can grow in the company unless you are friends with the area manager &/ or threaten to leave the company - Lack of structure in corporate office - Corporate not owning up to their actions
Pros
Meeting some great colleagues who i now call friends (who have all since moved on from this horrific company).
Cons
- The UK head office for The Kooples is severely inept at their jobs, no professionalism or appreciation for workers who put a lot of effort into their job. Once they have decided they no longer like you for little to no reason whatsoever, you are on borrowed time while they try to come up with a way to get rid of you or push you out. This isn’t just from personal experience but also various colleagues i worked with in different stores had the same negative experiences with head office and knew they had little time left. - I am still yet to meet a single colleague at this company who had a single positive thing to say, everyone is desperately searching for another job to get away from the power hungry management and HR that plagues this company like a disease. - There is no solid hierarchy of communication between levels of employees and head office, meaning they will never directly speak to you face to face about issues but rather through several people first and this can be other employees. I have had the London area manager speak to me negatively about other employees’ personalities as well as trying to get me to say negative things about others as an excuse to get rid of them . This behaviour is extremely unprofessional.
Pros
Only positive was meeting the team as they were friendly (in store team)
Cons
Everything from the head office to the higher up is a mess, very rude area managers, no sick pay, do way more than you get paid for, expected to say yes to everything or bye bye
Pros
- The only perk would be the friends made whilst working here who also endured the horrendous work environment too, which pushed them to find new jobs
Cons
- When starting the environment seemed welcoming, especially from higher management, but soon realised there was such a high turnover of staff members. ⁃ Lack of organisation within higher management; all had different opinions and expectations and would penalise members of staff through patronising behaviour. ⁃ Comments made about staff members weight, customers weight, racist remarks and derogatory comments about different cultures and religions about customers from the most recent manager which made fellow colleagues uncomfortable and upset. ⁃ Most recent manager was a bully towards myself and other members of staff who would make us feel patronised on the shopfloor, area manager was told but did not care. - It seems higher management hire store managers out of desperation, rather than based on their experiences. Also managers don’t seem to follow the contract on ethics which is worrying for such a premium brand. ⁃ Lack of awareness and care around mental health, made to feel guilty if ill for any reason and also if you can’t pick up a shift if you’re busy (sickness is also unpaid, even with proof of a doctors note and hospitalisation note). ⁃ The amount of stress and pressure put on individuals is unhealthy and causes a negative energy at work. ⁃ Bad attitudes and bullying from management when under stress, also when store doesn’t perform to target it gets dumped on whoever hasn’t made as many sales. ⁃ Unprofessional manner from higher management, no positive or uplifting comments to members of staff, just negative comments made which in fact doesn’t inspire team members to work harder. - Minimum wage with no incentives, impossible to get store bonus due to economic climate.
