      Lovely people, awful tech management

      Pros

      Chock full of delightful, knowledgeable people who want to do a good job. Fair yearly salary increase. Comfortable offices, and (post covid) reasonable WFH policies. Minimum requirement for unscheduled or out of hours work.

      Cons

      Little scope for movement within the company. Offered < £50 worth of training in 5 years. Senior technical management that plays favourites with the 'yes people' and side-lines dissent. Prepared to lose valuable staff and knowledge rather than concede that occasionally someone else might know better, and to bad mouth them in their absence. Credit quickly stolen, blame swiftly attributed. Inconsistent and self contradictory reasoning given on many occasions.

      Super friendly company spoilt by lack of leadership

      Pros

      Nearly everyone I met at the company was really friendly. Very pleasant people to work with.

      Cons

      Everything needs to get approved by the owner. This creates a huge bottleneck for every area of the organisation. Some projects given the ok at the start of a campaign can get rejected for no reason once all the work has been completed. Very bad for morale. If you are in the owner's good books you have a job for life. If you get on their bad side then you are doomed.
