Pros

Bonus is ok, dependant on performance (company not individual) Impossible to get fired unless you REALLY mess up or they have to shout at you more than once a week. you can be totally incompetent and as long as you hide behind emails and talk a good game you will be fine. Doesn't really matter if you fail or succeed with your appraisal targets, no one else looks at them until the next one.. rarely measurable and easily talked your way out of.. they still won't fire you..

Cons

Zero chance of realistic career progression in any department Inequality of pay is rampant I have seen EUR15k difference between people doing the same job Some serious issues with competency and understanding in senior management (some action seems to be happening but NOT removal)

Pros

Good opportunities to learn ; from business to chemistry, and possibility to explore different career paths. Small enough organization to engage with senior management while also big enough to gain exposure to the global network and chemical industry.

Cons

Decision power & authority limited , occasional micro management. HR , IT and other employee services could be improved.

Management are bullies

Pros

There are no pros about working here.

Cons

Some management and senior staff are bullies and treat you badly knowing how it's affecting people. Absolutely one of the worse places I've worked due to being bullied and them twisting things around. They knock your confidence and expect you to know everything within a day of starting and if you don't they will make you feel useless. They don't care about their staffs physical and mental health, they just want you in working. HR are also so rude and unhelpful and clearly on the companies side. I even got the phone hung up on me by them.

Good company with lots of potential. Senior management and engineering side lacking but other than that a great production and maintenance team

Pros

- Senior level management is very accessible and demonstrate good leadership - Great employee benefits - Good worklife balance

Cons

- New comer transition / on-boarding process can be improved - Collaboration between departments can be improved

Outdated white male led company

Pros

Opportunity to learn lots (as you'll be flung at anything which desparately needs doing).

Cons

Support departments are vastly under staffed and systems are outdated. While improvements are being put in place, the workload associated with this is not accounted for in staffing levels, leaving staff burnt out or past caring. Senior management is either wilfully blind or astoundingly ignorant to the needs of departments they don't/won't understand. Synthomer is managed by white middle class men who seem to lack the ability to consider input from anyone who isn't a "favourite". And you're most likely to be a favourite if you're a white middle class man. Culture and Values are not lived by the senior team, even if they are to some level by lower management, the fact the senior team don't can stymee progress.
