Really good company

Pros

Flexible time. Agile seating. Good compensation. People are friendly and helpful. A lot of exchanges between high level managers down to employees

Cons

Hierarchy so it might be hard to be promoted to management level. Some managers focus more on managing up than managing down. This reflects in the teams’ quality

Pros

There are no positives of working at Swiss Re

Cons

Harvey Weinstein will likely be Swiss Re’s next hire. There have been numerous reports to HR of sexual harassment and physical attacks against several women in the NYC office all stemming from the same individual. Management has turned a blind eye. If you are a female or self respecting male avoid working here at all costs. The HR issues and rampant sexual harassment will likely play out in the press sooner rather than later.

Pros

It has an amazing focus on skills and people development - and does not hesitate to invest in employee training and growth You are empowered to own your way of working, timing and career. Have been with the organisation for over 10 years and the intellectual stimulation my job provides; career opportunities ; absolute empowerment and the great minds i get to work with is what has kept me engaged.

Cons

You need to be self driven and take ownership for your career - there are no open promotion programmes It is a heavily matrixed organisation which means it is an environment where only those able to get things done through influence and creating a movement can thrive. I can imagine this can be a difficult situation for some
