Cons
This company completely takes advantage of young people by luring them in with false promises of making up to thousands per week. You will be given a very vague description of the job at the interview where they won’t actually tell you what kind of sales are actually involved. On my first day I actually had no idea what I’d be doing until I had about an hour of training where I found out I would be door knocking to “raise funds for charity”. The management completely deceive you into thinking that you are doing good and helping to raise money for these charities when really they have a lot more sinister of an agenda. I was literally taught how to manipulate people into signing up for ongoing donations by pressuring them and not properly informing them of what they were actually signing up for. I was taught how to change up my sales pitch and language to target different groups of people particularly the elderly and minorities. The company also keeps a significant cut from the donations and only a small amount goes to the intended charity. You will not be told that the pay is completely commission based. I was there about a week then was informed I wouldn’t be getting a base rate any longer and I would be getting commission only. This means that I often worked over 10 hours to get less than minimum wage. There is a lot of pressure from the management to reach the completely unattainable sales goals and they feed you constant false promises of money, success, and opportunities. Surge Directs entire agenda is taking advantage of impressionable people and scamming them through reoccurring charity donations. It is a complete pyramid scheme and I question the legality of their entire practice.
