Pros

Other than dealing your manager, you're left to your own wits to figure out how to make things work for yourself. The managers and directors aren't much help, but at the same time they really don't interfere.

Cons

The flipside to management having a hands-off approach is that you have very little support. There is rarely any inter-office communication, so your coworkers seem to prefer to stay ignorant as opposed to tapping each other for help. Speaking of which, don't even bother to challenge the status quo. This company is 'stuck' doing things as they've always been done. The Durbins run things here as it's a small family-owned business. Ever since Dr. Durbin, the original owner stepped down a couple of years ago, his son Jeff, the Chief Financial Officer, seems to be cutting corners every place he can. Take a glance around one of the offices you visit and you'll notice the majority of staff are still using 14" monitors that are nearly two decades old. In my six years with the company, they stopped my 401K match without any notice which I had to jump rank to finally get an answer as to why which has yet to be given. Finance said it was a mistake, but wouldn't elaborate beyond that. In addition, I have never received an annual review and also never been given a salary raise despite the owner bragging about having some of the most profitable years in the history of the company. The majority of the staff is also women. Perhaps it's due to the nature of the business, but then again women are also paid less and also don't challenge authority. Typical patriarchy from a business run by two old white men. In spite of nearly ALL of their money coming in as government funding, just know that every dollar they don't pay you goes directly into the Durbin's pockets.

Pros

You literally need zero qualifications for this job other than a GED/High School Diploma.

Cons

High turnover rate, terrible management, they do not gain you in the field (there is a week long class) but as far as actually carrying for individuals, they just toss you in and you basically have to figure it out for yourself. You are told they offer insurance after 90 days, but it's not, it's a discount plan that you have to pay for and so it cost just as much if you paid out of pocket without insurance. You are offered a bonus after 90 days, it takes almost a year of bugging then to finally get it. You aren't allowed to protect yourself from violent individuals. You have to call 911 because the managers don't answer their phones or return text. If you walk away (outside) or lock yourself in the office for saftey, you can get written up or fired. If you don't fit in their clique, they year you poorly and look for trains to get you in trouble or they will sit down the entire shift and have you do all the work. If a client lies and accuses you of misconduct (coworkers too), they will take their word without reviewing cameras or talking with others/witnesses and you will be suspended or fired. This company is so backwards they cannot keep employees (always lose the most people when it's time for your bonus or a raise). Most do not show compassion for the people they should be helping and the company is OK with that for the most part. Overnight staff beverages sleeps the entire shift out sits issues and gets high while they should be working - if they are family (a lot of nepotism goes on) or close friends of the managers, they are ok with that behavior. Oh, and even if you're incredibly sick, don't call in, just work or that'll get you fired too - even with a DR note, Covid is no exception. I could write pages and pages but this should give you an idea.
