Pros

Set schedule Benefits If you get lucky with a good manager the job can be a bit laid back

Cons

Pay is not worth the work, the environment is dangerous with little training for staff or management. Depending on the branch you may not get breaks and corporate will continually throw new procedures, broken recipes, and more paperwork at you. They will also expect you to break your morals to meet budget requirements so you end up feeding people dirt. For context I worked in the jail sector.

Pros

Pay is weekly, but that's the only pro

Cons

When I worked there, they wouldnt hire anyone at more than $12, which is not even remotely enough considering you don't get more than a quick smoke break here and there, and often you're left alone with as many as 4 inmates at a time. The inmates are usually pretty okay, but that doesnt mean something wont happen. In the six months I was there, seven people quit, and they only hired one person to replace them. So the four (4) employees that were left were stuck with every single shift. At that point, we were all expected to work seven days a week, as we only had two people for morning shift (4am-12pm) and two people for night shift (12pm-8/9pm). There was absolutely no training. Nothing about how to handle emergency situations, the inmates, or your own safety. The only thing protecting you from the four inmates you're supposed to be watching is your shiftmate (if they hadn't left to do their own thing) and a button on the wall that may or may not be near you when something happens. Absolutely awful place to work, and I left when they started scheduling me to work seven days a week on night shift and help cover people's days off on the morning shift.
