Pros

Most of the pros were in the past when it appeared things were moving in the right direction with a cool tech strategy. I like my team and at least my group appears intact...for now.

Cons

Let's start with who has left this organization in the last two months - - CEO - CFO - VP Product - Software developer - Financial Analyst (only one here) - Head Recruiter Not to mention the CIO and COO leaving last fall! What start-up do you know with that kind of turnover (out of 40 people in Chicago)? Yeah, me too. And why are they gone? Maybe because the founder (current "CEO") barks incoherent orders from Reno (yes, Reno Nevada...don't ask), changes long-term strategy on a daily basis, and even if he stuck to a consistent strategy, does not have the skillset or right team to execute it given the recent turnover. Let's turn this around before it's too late.

Strike Social Response
9y
It’s always disappointing to hear someone is frustrated, and we take feedback seriously. In fact, we just surveyed our employees, using Net Promoter, and our score was 3x above eNPS benchmarks. We like to give our employees a lot of freedom and run a very flat organization. As a result, our numbers speak for themselves. In the last year, our Chicago team has grown by more than 300%, we opened four international markets, and our revenues doubled. Our strategies remain consistent: work hard, be the best at what you do, provide excellent service — and you will be rewarded. We’re sorry you are feeling unsatisfied right now; we’ll keep trying to do better.

Weak Leadership Creates Weak Products

Pros

Fellow teammates were great and the companies/products we worked with.

Cons

The complete lack of experience of the leadership is evident. People are frequently yelled at for having ideas by the "CEO" who is a my way or highway kid. The compensation for helping win millions in contracts is nowhere to be seen. Since there is nothing truly special about Strike's product the company will fade away one their partners learn the same tricks. That's all it is...

Pros

* The company has an amazing culture. Everybody seems happy and excited about what they are doing. * There are numerous opportunities to learn. People are always willing to teach you something and are open to hearing your ideas. You can talk to anyone directly, and there are many opportunities to show what you know and build a nice portfolio. * Flexible work hours. I personally like to have lots of freedom when working. Knowing that I am evaluated by the results I generate and that my boss does not micromanage me matters a lot to me. * Fun and smart people. You are challenged all the time, but the coworkers are the best. This is not a competitive environment, but a place in which people collaborate with each other. * The company is growing. We just debuted a new office floor in Chicago, and we seem to be doing well. We are in a competitive industry, but a promising one. * The company organizes happy hours, and there is free food at the office all the time. * I have weekly meetings with my boss and I feel the company is investing time and resources so I can have a valuable experience here.

Cons

I really have nothing to say at this point. I believe this is a fast-paced environment where often you will work long hours and be required to do things that will go beyond your job. So, it is not for everybody. But this is part of the experience of working at a startup. In the end, you have the opportunity of learning a lot in a short period. But if you prefer a more formal structure with someone to tell you what to do all the time, this is probably not the best place for you. This is a better place for entrepreneurial and type A people.
