Pros

Good people, though many are leaving by the day. I value many of the friendships I built.

Cons

Bad decision making (especially on the People & Product teams) has caused a once high achieving company to lose most of its talent. Not an angry former employee here, but someone who left due to lack of results and company direction.

Pros

A supportive and energizing company to be a part of with a team who genuinely cares about one another and the work they do. The mission is meaningful, and there is a strong sense of shared purpose across the organization. There are also lots of opportunities to take on new challenges, expand your skill set, and learn.

Cons

To be excelling in your role, it often requires putting in more than just a standard workday. This is not Stepful specific, it's the case with any start up and is not always a negative.

Pros

Pros I started at Stepful as a contractor, and at the time I honestly did not know where it would lead. It has ended up being one of the better career decisions I’ve made. I’ve been able to move into a full-time role, get promoted, take on more responsibility, and even fly to NYC to meet the team in person. The best part of the job is still the students. As an Instructor Manager, I get to work with instructors who are helping students get into healthcare careers, and that makes the work feel very real. It’s not just a company talking about a mission on a slide. You see students trying to change their lives, and you feel like you are playing a small part in helping them do that. Stepful is definitely fast-paced, and things are not always perfect or fully figured out. But I’ve worked with a lot of people here who care a lot, work hard, and are trying to build something meaningful. There is also room to grow if you are willing to be flexible, learn quickly, and jump in where needed.

Cons

Being remote can be hard at times. Stepful has a strong culture, but a lot of it is centered around the NYC office and the energy of being together in person. I’ve been able to visit, which helped a lot, but I do think remote employees have to work a little harder to feel fully connected I’ve read some of the negative reviews on here, and while I’m sure everyone has their own experience, some of them do not really line up with the day-to-day I’ve seen. This is a fast-moving company, so it will not be the right place for everyone. There are also people who have been let go who may still be upset, which is worth keeping in mind when reading some of the more extreme reviews.
