Pros

Decent medical benefits, average 401k match, generally good people to work with, they have nice facilities in most locations, and new product development has been decent.

Cons

Lots of stealth layoffs, turmoil due to acquisitions, constantly shifting priorities, no profit sharing for anyone below management level since 2008, paltry raises for anyone below management while top executives seem to making huge bank, health insurance premium increases and cost shifting have been outpacing raises since 2009 and most new people only last a few years while the most senior people seem to be getting laid off at higher numbers than past years; a lot of people with key institutional knowledge have been kicked to the curb.

Pros

The pay is decent and the health benefits are good.

Cons

SJM has really gone downhill over recent years. Poorly managed, poorly led, unethical. The business unit I was in was run more like a club than a business. The treatment of employees is archaic and abusive.

Pros

Life saving products and some extremely bright people in some groups

Cons

Most people in management or leadership positions are corrupt and power hungry. The number of bright people are dwarfed by the number of incompetent people, which makes accomplishing goals difficult. There are still some good people left, but many of the best people have left or are looking for a new job to escape as soon as possible. 50 hour+ work weeks are the norm and checking email on the evenings and weekends is expected continuously, not just during critical times. Work life balance is a joke to management at this company and morale tanked long ago along with the many rounds of layoffs.
