Pros

The culture in the production team is amazing; supportive, kind, caring, and welcoming. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of work, but your team is always around you giving you the support you need.

Cons

Only downside is lower pay with few options for career progression.

Pros

Sponge has a great list of customers with the chance to build solutions for globally recognised brands and the work is very interesting. The company has a great reputation and wins lots of awards. For the right person, at the right time, in the right department, you can get lucky and be promoted quickly, this is not the experience for most people though. Wide choice of authoring tools that we can work with

Cons

There is quite a lot of internal pressure to leave good online reviews in some departments, which I think does skew the ratings significantly. There are massive inconsistencies throughout the business. Long service staff are not rewarded. I know of several people who are paid roughly double my salary despite having the exact same level of experience and contribution as myself, management give the usual excuse of "we need to pay more to attract new talent", while also seemingly having an attitude that there isn't enough money left in the pot to pay long standing staff fairly. Predictably retention of talent is a huge problem. The company has a real feeling of entitlement, and that they think you should be grateful for the opportunity to work for them and as a result the benefits package is pretty paltry compared to competitors and seems to change often. The company has had a turbulent time recently with redundancies announced, this seemed to come out of nowhere and stems from a fairly big scale up attempted by the leadership team, with seemingly no decent market evidence to back up their decision other than 'signals'. When this inevitably went wrong people were torn from the business with extremely short notice, unfortunately this seems to be a frequent pattern with the company. Work outside of normal hours is constantly expected to fulfil unrealistic expectations set by the sales team with no overtime paid.
