Pros

Remote working offers you the opportunity to look for another job.

Cons

All work is micromanaged. Nothing is more demoralising than your opinion being irrelevant and not allowed. Need to be a yes person, anything against the grain will cost you your job. Reviews are based on the number of rocks you must complete. Apparently, booking a meeting with the owner and moaning about their product will get you on the board of directors. Mental health is an issue with no work-life balance. Staff handbook is there because it needs to be doesn't carry any meaning. A sink or swim mentality. Your training/upskilling is done via Pluralsight using one manager personal account to login, which only allows one person at a time else you will be kicked off, have to use arranged calendar to book a time slot. All smoke and mirrors, no structure to the business. Staff are treated unfairly depending if you're liked or not. No progression if you are not a friend of the SLT. Acknowledgement or praise is overlooked and given to someone else. Kills any motivation to go the extra mile. Extremely long, unsociable working hours.

Pros

Software is sector leader and award winner. Some of the staff are really friendly and great. New sales and support teams are very good. Can work remotely. Pay quite well with car allowance. Ahead of the game in terms of development. Some really lovely clients.

Cons

Extremely long, unsociable working hours despite the promise of being able to manage your own working diary. Plenty of travelling expected as the norm, especially at weekends even though the working hours are stated as Monday to Friday. Complete micromanagement. Unachievable targets mean unachievable bonus. No HR - outsourced. No praise for a job well done. Staff handbook is there because it needs to be. Hardly any of it carries meaning. Treat staff unfairly depending on if you're liked or not. Only interested in money, not too bothered about what the client base think of them as a company. Head office is a shed at the CEOs home with pets everywhere. Incestuous leadership. Everyone knows each other outside of work, friends, family etc. One rule for one, one rule for another. Time off for matters outside of annual leave is extremely hard to get approval for unless you are liked. Management change their decisions quite often, causing uncertainty. Clients refuse to deal with certain senior leaders due to past experiences.
