      Excellent culture and people, good grad development, however workload inconsistent

      Pros

      Company truly is people focused, employees treated well. People are nice and great to work with Lots of seniors who are top of their trade First look programme for students is very generous with scholarship Grads get a fair amount of responsibility early on, after the settling in phase.

      Cons

      Hourglass shaped hierarchy, lots of grey haired seniors and lots of junior grads, not enough intermediates (~10 experience). Intermediates seem to not have much room for career development because so many of the seniors are staying on. Recently bought by big American company so lots of the perks of the company (people focused) may be lost as it focuses more on revenue. Biggest gripe is the inconsistent work pipeline. Not winning enough jobs, especially in the infrastructure space. Hence people are not always kept fully utilised. This has caused a lot of intermediates and experienced grads to leave the company.

      Pros

      - A company that has always undertaken great strategic planning for the future business sustainability of the company. - Employee ownership means senior staff are highly committed to achieving business results for clients and take strong personal ownership of business success for both client organisations and SKM. - Exceptional client focussed strategies. - Great internal training and mentoring programs for staff at all levels. - Excellent collegial culture. - Management try hard to recruit top quality people and place them in the right roles for their expertise and experience, reconciled with business needs. - High integrity and ethics in business practices.

      Cons

      - If you can relate to the above Pros, there are not many negatives that would not be found at other Professional Service/Project Delivery firms.

      - Some good opportunities to progress and travel with the company if you can grasp them - Some interesting projects - Good training opportunities

      Cons

      - Don't feel secure, feel like I could be made redundant any minute - Slow to react to economic pressures - Complex management structure; including too many seniors and not enough juniors - High fee rates often make SKM uncompetitive - Good values, but a feeling that they're ignored when required - Currently a toxic atmosphere following redundancies and lots of pressure to perform, with different messages coming from different parts of management depending on their person KPIs
