Pros

Shopup India is led by Voonik founders who have run multiple successful companies and have invested in many others.

Cons

Very early stage, so expect to work the weekends. no culture or processes, no control of leadership, people have successfully run scams inside the company. Bangla is a must otherwise most meetings you will feel left out. Most likely you will be asked to relocate to Dhaka too, its an unsaid expectation. Founders are clueless of company strategy and vision. No product head. People are quitting left, right and centre. If you are in good books of Bangladeshi founders and COSs, you will be fine, else, try not to get fired.

Pros

- Opportunity to take on more duties than assigned. - Great opportunities to learn by doing. - Access to everyone from junior to senior for open discussions or FGDs. - Great office ambiance.

Cons

- Even after 3+ years of operation, no profitability, no strategic approach to rescale. - Upper management is barely capable in terms of strategic execution. - Responsibilities of 10 on one person, with pay of 1/50th of a person's according to the market standards. - Lots of promises towards employees, close to none ever met (e.g., fringe benefits, pay range increase, etc.) - Tendency to lay off/ask to leave whenever an employee's appraisal comes. Increment is insufficient. Offered packages are barely even a package. - Even lunch is on the employee, no snacks, no pick/drop. - Needless to say, work-life balance is not even a thing.

Pros

1. Having option to learn and practice good trendy technologic. 2. The grooming meeting defined well. 3. Dhaka team mates are very helpful. 4. Salary on time.

Cons

1. The company is not having a good planner who can think about a stable business. 2. The hiring and firing is very unplanned. When they are hiring people, probably they are not having with their stable plan. Beside when the layoff, they don't care about the employee. 3. Many people faced unhealthy politics for which being a good performer they got lay-off and low performer (favorite to leads/heads) could only sustain. 4. For the tech team in ShopUp, there is high possibility of keeping ZERO members in Dhaka. So, when company down sizing people, Dhaka tech team affects most. 5. In business team, more honest and skill people are missed. For which some of business people taken the path of dishonesty for which company financially affected as well as due to unskilled people a huge amount of loss occurs on market. 6. The balance between Dhaka and Bangalore tech team is very less in terms of - People hiring, Compensation benefits, outing facility, Choosing of tech etc. For example - while hiring for engineers (DevOps / Support Engineer / Developers / QA), the company giving less priority to hire from Dhaka. Besides, when selecting the tech stack for any service, the only discussion & decision made from Bangalore team only. 7. In case of downsizing the tech team, the Dhaka team also getting affect most though the engineers in Dhaka are more skilled and capable. 8. Few example also noticeable to keep the family people (Like - Spouse, Siblings and other relative) impact free from any layoff period. 9. The domination of Bangalore team may ethically disturb you a lot when you may see - a) Your valid PR review suggestion are not taken accepted, b) Tries to blame you for the failure of Leads/EM, c) Better practice and process (In terms of - Development, DB Structure, Raising PR, Testing etc.) proposed from Dhaka but gets rejected from Bangalore size and some more. 10. Finally the increment is very less. They'll also give you a dream of company share but you may get fired before even it matures.
