Pros

Sharp & Carter has been the most impressive and impactful business of my professional career. Having worked in recruitment for over 10 years, I can confidently say the culture is exceptional. It is a genuinely high-performing environment where success is celebrated, but equally where leaders invest heavily in their people and provide the support required for sustained performance. What sets the business apart from many recruitment agencies is that it is not heavily KPI-driven or built around micromanagement. Consultants are encouraged to be autonomous, take ownership of their careers, set their own goals and work closely with leaders to ensure they have the support and resources needed to achieve them. The best analogy I can think of is the transition from high school to university – nobody is constantly looking over your shoulder or telling you what to do, but there is an abundance of support, expertise and guidance available whenever you need it. If you have the internal drive and motivation to succeed, the business gives you every opportunity to do so. The level of care shown by senior leadership is rare, and there is a strong sense of collaboration and camaraderie across the business. The learning and development opportunities are outstanding, with clear pathways for those aspiring to become Partners or simply be the best recruiters they can be. Access to leadership, including the founders, has been invaluable to my own development. I've built lifelong relationships here and feel a great deal of pride being part of the business.

Cons

As a business experiencing significant growth, there are naturally periods of change and evolution. While these changes ultimately create opportunity, they can sometimes be challenging to navigate and may require teams to adapt quickly.

Pros

Sharp & Carter feels more like a family than an employer. You are given autonomy and trust to build your own market and operate like a true business owner. There is a strong entrepreneurial mindset across the organisation, but it's balanced with genuine collaboration and not a culture of micromanagement. The quality of people is exceptional. You're surrounded by experienced, commercially minded recruiters who are generous with their knowledge and genuinely invested in helping one another. Having worked here for a number of years, there are a number of things that stand out as a measure of care including; - All Partners went on Job Keeper through COVID and took the same salary as Consultants to ensure the organisation didn't have to make anyone redundant (I was a consultant/manager at the time and fearful like most on Job Security) - Long-term outlook - for the first 3 years my business unit wasn't profitable or performing and they continued to trust me and my team and support us. - Investment in a dedicated Health and Wellbeing Director for all staff to have access to. - When the business has performed well all staff are rewarded with a reward trip, not just the high performers or 'billing consultants'. By no means is the organisation perfect, but I think that there is a genuine mindset about showing genuine care for its employees and trying to provide a psychologically safe environment.

Cons

As with any high-performing business, the pace can be demanding and there is high expectations. There is an opportunity for some internal processes and systems to evolve alongside that growth. Sharp & Carter has a highly entrepreneurial culture, which is one of its greatest strengths, but at times the pace of growth can mean processes need to catch up to create greater consistency and efficiency across teams.

Pros

Sharp & Carter is a genuinely high-performing and people-focused environment. The leadership team are incredibly supportive and lead from the front, which creates a strong sense of trust and accountability across the business. There is a real emphasis on culture – it’s collaborative, driven and enjoyable without feeling overly corporate or bureaucratic. People are empowered to do their job well and are recognised and rewarded accordingly. The earning potential is excellent for those who are motivated, and the structure is clear and transparent. You’re given the tools, autonomy and support to build something meaningful, which is rare in the market. Career progression is very achievable, with clear pathways and a leadership team that actively invests in development. There’s a strong focus on long-term careers rather than short-term wins.

Cons

Like any high-performing business, it can be demanding at times and requires a level of self-motivation and resilience to be successful.
