My point of view for the company

Pros

-My colleagues. Some really great and aspiring people are working there currently. -Off-site meeting once a year to meet each other, since most people are working remotely. -The purpose of the company is to build a product that helps people. I understand it needs to be profitable, but I’m sorry the focus right now is more on the commercial side - I still believe the main goal should be making a positive impact.

Cons

One of the company's mottos was that “Saphetor is its people.” If that’s truly the case, then the company should ensure that its employees are genuinely supported and valued. Unfortunately, that’s not what’s happening. Instead, we see: -Little to no meaningful training or onboarding -Codebases that are disorganized and difficult to maintain -Poor management practices -Projects are often assigned with overly ambitious deadlines, leaving little room for proper planning, development, or quality assurance. -Infrequent salary reviews, with raises being rare and employees strongly discouraged from requesting them -Individual input and opinions often ignored -Layoffs that further damage morale and stability -HR should serve as a bridge between employees and leadership, but in practice, it often seems more aligned with management, rather than being an advocate for employee concerns. -Surveys intended to assess employee satisfaction often feel like a formality rather than a genuine effort to drive change. It’s particularly unsettling when they’re distributed right before layoffs, with no prior communication or context provided. A company can't thrive long-term if it doesn't invest in its people - not just in words, but in action.

Pros

- Flexible remote work policy — officially one day in the office for Athens employees, but this is not strictly enforced. - Decent benefits such as monthly meal allowance and health insurance. - The company’s mission is meaningful — supporting professionals with accurate information to help patients with genetic diseases.

Cons

- The work environment has become toxic. Culture has deteriorated significantly over the past two years, with leadership showing little interest in employee morale. - The CEO openly maintains an attitude of “people can leave, we’ll replace them,” which contributes to a deep sense of disposability across teams. - Layoffs were announced to entire teams without any context or feedback, adding to the instability and lack of transparency. - Managers often lack leadership and people skills. There are no regular 1:1s, no goal-setting processes, and no real feedback or coaching. - No career development. There are no clear growth paths or internal opportunities, leaving employees disengaged and stuck. - Tools and frameworks are outdated, and there's a noticeable resistance to adopting modern, more efficient solutions. - The product is highly complex, and as experienced employees continue to leave, onboarding and knowledge sharing have become major pain points. - What was once a supportive company culture has disappeared. The CEO previously said “Saphetor is its people,” but that sentiment no longer holds true.
