Pros

There are definitely some very good and competent employees, unfortunately they are often not allowed to make decisions because everything is micromanaged by totally incompetent owner.

Cons

If you are looking for a place with a massively incompetent owner, who acts like a child and verbally abuses 50% of the staff while talking badly about the other 50% behind their back, then SaltWorks is the ideal location for you. If there was a reality show for worst boss/owner in the United States, then the SaltWorks CEO would easily make the quarter finals. There is nothing redeemable about this man. He screams at people in meetings to the point they cry; he not only talks inappropriately to female workers but if you are female, you may be unfortunate enough to get sent one of his personal ‘sexy’ pictures. He is constantly demeaning employees and acts like a petulant child on a daily basis. It used to be a remarkable company with significant growth but almost all that growth came when his wife was running the company. She was clearly the competent spouse because when she left the company went downhill with Mark Zoske running it all. It seems almost impossible to be both a micro manager while being too scared to make a decision but the CEO has somehow mastered both qualities. If you become an employee and make a company decision expect to be yelled at. If you become an employee and don’t make a decision expect to be yelled at. If you don’t get yelled at that only means he has sent emails behind your back to your co-workers saying how he does not like you. I have seen demeaning emails about employees that would cause a CEO to be removed from any and all public companies in the country. He not only talks terribly about employees but also about almost every customer. There is not a single major company that buys SaltWorks products that Mark Zoske has not said terrible things about. If they knew what he says about them they would be disgusted. If you want to know what you are in for with the SaltWorks CEO think of a cross between Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un, Bill Cosby with just a dash of David Duke, and that would make a more likable leader than Mark Zoske. Just think how much fun you will have witnessing this type a carnage every morning you go to work. If you think this is an exaggeration it is actually worse. Run away, run very far away!

Thank you for your message. I understand that you were not happy with your departure, and you did not have a positive relationship with our CEO. We do have many employees who have been able to work with him successfully.

Pros

High-quality product; fair medical/dental/vision benefits; decent middle management team.

Cons

While the products are great and wholesome, the company's environment is quite the opposite. It's toxic, hostile, stagnant, and destined to remain a big fish in a little pond. Growth within the company is limited, if not nonexistent. Insurance benefits are fair, but wages and PTO are very, very low. You max out at 96 hours of PTO, which you do not get until you have worked for the company for 5 years. The general unhappiness is very apparent throughout the entire company and any positive attitude is quickly shut down. The employees that are miserable (almost all) don't try to hide it. The "family, tight knit" environment portrayed to outsiders and newcomers is a facade. The select group that has been trusted and given special privileges prevents anyone on the outside to do their job well and grow within the company. Many of the higher ups are wildly unprofessional and at times it is common to see the owner yelling curse words and other unmentionables at employees. There is absolutely no benefit of working here.

Most toxic place I have ever worked

Pros

Great product, which is more of a benefit to the consumer than a worker

Cons

My career has taken me many places and worked for all types of people. In 20yrs of doing what I do, I rank Saltworks and the toxic, beligerent, narcissistic management/ownership as by far my worst working experience. Even a few years after moving on, I have lingering anxiety about going to work here. The verbal and mental abuse that happens here is real. This is a warning to anyone who is tempted to go work for what appears to be a wholesome company from the outside. I know their product is great and the few commercials that have shown up on tv make them seem like a great place, but believe the former employees. It's not worth it. You will never be part of the clique that gets special treatment.
