Pros

There are no PROs in this job. The fact you get to go home away from the place is the most satisfying thing about it. I would rate SGN with 0 stars but unfortunately that isnt an option so ill have to break my heart and offer them an undeserved 1 star.

Cons

Employees dont have a voice. HR are supposed to see things from both sides but team up with the company against employees. Constant lies and victimisation towards certain individuals from senior management. Try to control your personal life aswell as working life. Employees losing out on thousands per yer due to managment trying to take advantage of loopholes in contract. Law breaking acts taking place daily amoung managers. Im sure youve already seen this place in the newspapers a couple of times. Stay clear of this place. Securing a job here will be a decision you will live to regret.

Work is very easy and it’s very easy to learn what you need to know if you are smart. Quite a relaxed environment at first glance. Chance of progression maybe

Cons

No diversity. You can see they only hire particular people. Doesn’t appear to want to spend any money on employees. Poor pay, poor lunch breaks, poor working conditions. Lots of affairs and slight bullying. Lots of mean people

In terms of diversity and inclusion, we recognise we have some way to go but we’re truly committed to building a more diverse SGN and creating a culture of inclusion where everyone, regardless of difference, is valued. In October 2016 we commissioned a Diversity and Inclusion Audit to understand the areas that require further attention. Since then, we have implemented a number of recommendations, some of which include: delivering inclusive recruitment training to hiring managers and assessors, reviewing our job advertisements to ensure gender neutral language and using targeted recruitment advertising on social media. In March this year we ran a follow-up survey to capture views and suggestions from our people. The results are encouraging and will help us to design processes and practices that foster inclusion and diversity at all levels throughout SGN. Cons

Long hours average 20hr shifts on call, disciplined if missed a call due to asleep/fatigue. Bullying management methods. Go without mentality for tools/PPE having to wait months for new basic tooling etc.

The following comments have been provided by one of our HR Business Partners: Thank you for your company review. We are working hard to minimise the impact of standby on working hours. Changes have been implemented in depots to help reduce hours worked this winter and additional checks have been implemented by the Control Centre to monitor hours worked. A thorough review will be undertaken in 2019 with our TU colleagues, with the aim of making significant improvements for next winter.
