There are so many cons that I won't be able to list them all.
1. There is a good ole boy mentality running rampant throughout the company. Women don't climb the ladder here. You are to be seen and not heard. I've seen many times an incoming male has been made supervisor over the female employee that has trained him and been there 10 years or more.
2. Promotions are nonexistent; unless of course you are a Saudi native. Once you are hired, you stay in that position basically your ENTIRE career. Of course they will rename your position over time to make it seem like you matter, but the pay doesn't increase with the title change.
3. Raises and bonuses are based on how much your manager likes you; no matter how well you do your job. Make the Saudis mad once, and you are on their radar for your career.
4. Management refuses to hire competent employees. Now that GE has moved in , they rely heavily on a "it's not what you know, it's who you know" type of thinking. Nepotism is the used in this company excessively. Employees have to carry the weight of 2-3 positions because management won't hire enough employees to do the jobs. It's cheaper to keep contract employees. But harder for full time employees because we work weekends, overtime, and holidays with no comp time or overtime pay.
5. Any new or fresh ideas that are presented to streamline processes are shot down by management. Any change that is brought up must come from them or it won't be accepted.
6. They have too many consultants advising them on how to run a business that they don't understand. How can someone who never used SAP train those that have used SAP for more than 10 years? Train wreck indeed.
7. Human Resources is there for a title only. If an employee has a complaint about management, it is quickly swept under the rug. Their main purpose is to create files against employees that the Saudi's have targeted for dismissal. They do not care about the well being of the employees.
8. The setup of the workplace is promotes a hostile workplace. Tiny cubicles stacked together leave no privacy for anyone. This leads to people being annoyed by others if they are on a conference call, speaking to others, or just fidgeting while thinking. If you have a heavy voice, this will not be the place for you.
9. Benefits are comparable to others in the industry. There is nothing that separates SABIC from any of the others.
10. My final con would be that the management is so shady that they instructed supervisors and managers to come to Glassdoor and post positive reviews in order to drown out the negative truths that employees are giving. They even sent out a memo through HR warning us not to write anything negative on here or we will be dismissed. Shady, shady, shady!!
