Good ideas but always falling short

Pros

The idea of the product is great but needs to step up to the game and reflect comments from clients and move with the fast changing tech landscape Talented staff however ideas are ignored and HR brush away the fact that there are actually issues across the company from a moral standpoint.

Cons

Lack of resources; time, people and budget to actually complete work to a good standard. Expected to do as told and not question... The staff have talent and commercial knowledge to move the company forward but are often ignored. Have to fight for everything and only when staff, clients or agencies threaten to leave then something is done, not a good attitude to have and a shame because people will only ever stay for a short period longer and then realise nothing is going to change.

Pros

Generally, light-hearted and friendly atmosphere. With a few exceptions, people don't take themselves too seriously. Some interesting problems, with lots of potential and freedom to explore.

Cons

Lack of direction in the development department. Us/Them mentality. Weird, bloated and unnecessarily complex AWS infrastructure Too hierarchical and corporate.

Pros

Decent pay and some very nice people. Outside of development everyone is friendly and approachable. Easy going and relaxed atmoshepere. Work is easy and not challenging.

Cons

- Very, very, very slow pace of development. Simple things take weeks. - Broken development process. Agile cargo culting without understanding of the root issues. - Promotion based on tenure, not skills. Architecture and design decisions are made by people that have no software background. - Constant stream of people leaving. the mediocrity of the tech leads drives people with experience away, usually within a few months. the company had 3 heads of development in 2 years, lost more than half of the developers, and a whole department quit.
