Everyone is unhappy

Pros

Good location for NYC office. Free coffee, sparkling water, and snacks.

Cons

Everyone I work with is unhappy with the company. The "mission" is wonderful, but once you start working here, you realize it is just about making money, most of which goes to upper management. There's no room for advancement and there's currently a hold on raises (or so they say). Also, there's no company culture. They say they are a "start-up" but they are very corporate and ultimately "big business" healthcare. They try to have activities to promote office culture but that does nothing if you don't consider culture during the hiring process. There's no onboarding process, and a very weak review process. Upper management is terrible - many men are sexist and entitled. There are bullies here who cannot get fired because they are friends with higher-ups and unfortunately HR can't do anything. The office is always cold, people complain but nothing gets done.

Remedy Partners Response

Thank you for your honest feedback regarding your experience at Remedy. Since you've been with the company for awhile you know we are in a period of unprecedented growth. We've just rolled out a new onboarding process, and are working to address issues raised through our recent employee survey. As we transition from a startup to an emerging business, we are actively working to develop processes and programs to help employees feel engaged with the company and in their work. There will be opportunities for input on a departmental level, which we hope you'll get involved in. You also shared some issues that are very concerning. I hope you are comfortable reaching out to discuss them with me offline. And while we love the architecture and the views of our new New York offices, the building HVAC system is indeed an issue. ~Leslie Glenn

There are better places with a similar mission.

Pros

Money is average, lots of work flexibility as far as hours and location. People say the snacks are good, but those have taken a turn for the worse... (giving us pizza every week does not make up for bad wages). Before you write off this review as a rant from a disgruntled employee, just know that I had a very good experience here for a long time and it pains me to see a place that had a lot of life and potential truly lose its way.

Cons

If you love Remedy because of their mission, that’s great, but it’s not the place it once was. In the early days we had a number of high value products, executives that truly believed in them, employees who would die for this company, and partners who were engaged and dedicated. Today, things feel very bleak and what we do is not unique anymore and those people that once inspired our mission are gone. Executives could care less about what’s happening in the company, managers are ineffective and over compensated, and HR more closely resembles Batman’s arch nemesis, two-face. The general consensus is that this place is going under and the culture has shifted accordingly. The people that actually add value and do the work are leaving in droves. You had the chance to keep these people, but you chose to put them under incompetent managers instead of empowering them and trusting that their years here may have actually lead to some expertise.

Remedy - IT

Pros

- Good pay and benefits for a non-financial company in NYC - Good year end bonuses depending on how much the company values you

Cons

What started out as a cutting edge innovative disruptive healthcare company slowly turned into a highly political, lazy, toxic workplace as it grew. The IT division which operates out of NYC, enables the business and provides it the tools and technologies required for running the BPCI program. However, the CEO and founder mostly ignore the division and hardly make any trips here nor seem to care or question why stuff breaks all the time or why things are getting thrown out after years of development and being re-written. Top cons... - Yes men with no technical skills being promoted as directors and put in charge of software projects which they are not competent to lead. - Opaque management style. (E,g people whom you work with on a daily basis get fired and its not formally communicated nor any explanation given. You just hear it word of mouth as hallway conversation) - Highly anti-agile and more waterfall making projects stay in development for years without anyone having the opportunity to use it, provide feedback and improve it. - The Devops group is supposed to enable engineers to be more productive by helping them develop, build and deploy quicker. But not at Remedy. Teams constantly feel the need to battle and justify new tools and technologies because Devops throws walls as its more work for them. - Highly locked down environment, that reasonable technical tools are prohibited from being installed, hampering productivity and engineers needing to take longer and more complex strategies thus wasting company time and money.
