- Work with smart kids
- Evening hours suitable for students or those with day jobs
Cons
- As of 2022, the company did not lease a proper studio or office space. Locations feel ad hoc and inadequate
- Transition to online teaching was bumpy
It was really easy to balance my schedule with a full-time school workload. As a coding instructor I built the skills to switch into the software industry (from electrical eng) and land a job in Game dev. Teaching kids is a very fulfilling, and the other instructors were all very kind and supportive. I was pretty good at getting sales from doing 1h free trials and I got a pretty good bonus because of it. When Covid hit, the company pivotted to online quickly, and seamlessly.
Cons
Although remote work is great, I did miss in-person teaching. Remote work had unique challenges related to student engagement, student readiness. You'd need pretty good hardware to smoothly run Zoom meetings with programs like Unity, and VisualStudio Code.
