Disappointing and Sad

Pros

Some genuinely fantastic people work at RAC. There are glimmers of hope and people who want to do great things. When you find the people that support you, they will do so unconditionally. Sometimes there are food trucks and events on. Working from home for two weeks out of three is a good perk.

Cons

Extremely cliquey and rife with micro-management and mobbing. The amount of people leaving is beyond belief. Many friends who have existing mental health issues found that the pressure made them worse. You will need to use many systems all at once and deal with constant harassment and abuse from managers and members. Commissions are capped and you get penalised for spending too much or not enough time on the phone. If you don't cross sell or meet the impossible metrics, you will be placed on a performance plan and eventually let go. Opportunities for progression are disguised as 'development opportunities' and every second person is on secondment so you won't have the same manager for long. You don't get celebrated when you get it right.

Pros

People you meet are nice but some can be rude

Cons

Unrealistic KPI’s, expect to much out of you, unrealistic hours causing nothing but sleep issues, one day you have to do a 7-3 shift then go to doing a 12-8 shift and back down to early shifts. And the constant lies of saying you won’t work weekends and good work life balance but always working weekends and get no time to yourself, and always get one day off most times in a week and when you do manage to get 2 days off there and never in a row. You also have to always keep an eye on your roster due to them always changing it last second with no notice. The HR are not the best, and constantly working public holidays as a full time and not even been ask to work them just straight up been placed on them, and always getting asked to work on days off and especially overtime is asked a lot mostly everyday your working wouldn’t be suprised as a lot of people seem to leave

Pros

- If (A very big if) you get into the right team and can do most of your work in a silo you can get a lot of work done with a lot of autonomy - Some of the people are pretty good

Cons

- Most people do not care about their job or their output - There are entire teams that nobody knows what they do - In IT alone there have been 8 leads quit in the last 6 months - The entire ITSM team quit at one point, they convinced 1 person to stay on part time while they quickly hired 3 more people - If you get on the wrong side of one of the GM's you will be marked as "the enemy" and be forced out extremely quickly (Either by giving you things that are outside your remit and telling you to do it or by telling you to do things directly (GM -> Team Lead) and then when your manager asks you what your doing they have said they've already spoken to that GM previously and said XYZ was not a priority) - There is no accountabiity for anything - Make multiple P1 outages affecting the entire business? All good - Misspend $300k+? No worries - Cause security incidents? Blame someone else and your all good - Be an SME of a service but not know how it works? Don't worry about it - Abuse service desk in multiple tickets? Swept under the rug - Failed projects? Promotion - Make the only people who know how business critical systems work redundant? Deflect blame - There was services being transferred to my team. I recieved direction from a GM that I wasn't allowed to talk or know about what services my team was going to recieve until we got them Mismanagement is so bad that when I resigned and gave my months notice I found out I was actually being let go early.. Via a service desk ticket. My manager wasn't aware that I was being let go early
